I've been pretty busy lately.  Now I'm trying to get caught up with things, but the problem is that takes motivation, which I don't really have.  Anyway, here are some of the things that have happened to me lately:

I had one of those days where you get older.  To commemorate my quarter century of existence, I now have a really sweet sleeping bag.  ( Read more... )

I don't remember Homegrown ever happening back in the day...perhaps I just didn't care in high school? Very cool, though.

Where are you going at the end of the month?

Are you still working at the bookstore in Fitgers? At least all this tumult means you're getting paid more?

1. According to the brochure, this was the 11th Homegrown, which doesn't give us a lot of excuse--although it's my first, too. I can't remember exactly, but I don't think I knew it existed till I was in college, from which point on I've never been in Duluth in late April/early May. Next year I hope to plan ahead better and make it to more than 10% of the sets.

2. Tentatively, I am moving in with my parents for a few months, then will be buying a house in the fall.

3. Yes, I am still there ca. 10 hours a week, but my frustrations above refer to my other job at a credit union. I have a review coming up soon, so a raise would be in order, considering how much more I've been doing lately--we'll see...

Are you job-hunting right now? Or were you able to find something new?

Ha...who knew there was this music festival going on. I guess we were not so in touch with the local scene in high school. Duluth sounds more and more like a real city when I hear your stories about it.

You're buying a house? How exciting! In Duluth?

Oh right, I had forgotten about that other job...yeah, it sounds like a raise is definitely in order.

I just started a new job at the Alliance for the Great Lakes (greatlakes.org), and it's pretty awesome. I'm coordinating their Adopt-a-Beach program. I think I'm going to try to see if I can get Minnesota more involved (we already have OH, WI, MI, IN, IL). But yeah, it's temporary through October, so I'll be out a job again in the fall.

So next year you should come visit for Homegrown week! I'm planning to buy somewhere in the area, but I'm not yet sure where. One of the main reasons I'm living w/ my parents this summer rather than subletting is to see if I can handle living out of town and commuting. Somehow having to drive into town seems just so *different* from hopping on a bus, even though the commute from their place is comparable to the one in Boston and shorter than the ones when I lived in St. Paul and Mpls. This will be a grand experiment.

Glad to hear you have a cool job--hopefully they will find a permanent place for you over the next few months.
