I always wanted to ask what "It's complicated" answer in relationship status in social network services means? My Russian friend told me, like "it's everything else that's not included in the list" lol But once I've seen a phrase somewhere, like "choose 'it's complicated' and they will understand everything". But what exactly it means? Different

I've always assumed that it means that are trying to say that they are in a relationship, but still want to date other people.
