I got really really anemic my first year living on my own too. I was tired alllll the time. The iron supplements were AMAZING although they aren't the greatest on your stomach. Make sure you eat when you take them, and take them long enough to build the stores of iron in your body. My Doctor had me on them for three months. Since then I've taken a multi vitamin with iron which, although I'm not much for supplements either, has made an amazing difference in my life especially while living on somewhat of a budget.
it depends on the amount of iron in the supplement. at this point i'm trying to build my iron stores, so taking it without food isn't a big deal, as it would just inhibit absorption.
i found as i was looking through the multivitamins that most of them contained very little iron, unless it is specifically for premenopausal women. but i agree, it's all about the quality of life...
That's great that you've been getting some fun in!! It's really important that you get out and just enjoy yourself at least once a week to keep your sanity. I know, I didn't go out for like a month and I felt like I was going to go crazy. Good luck with exams and such and keep on going, your almost done your first year!!!!!!!!!!!!! Take Care Raymond
I miss my sister. Make sure you allow yourself to sleep. You don't need to feel guilty for doing it. I love you muchly. And young adults at church next year will rock (I'm officially on the leadership team) so hopefully we'll see each other there - since we never walk next door!!!
montreal is more expensive to live in than winnipeg (although admittedly less expensive than vancouver or toronto). milk for instance is ~$1.50 more expensive (for 4 L) (or to look at it another way, what i pay for 2 litres here, i could get 4 in winnipeg). meat just follows the trend. i can count on two hands the number of times i have had meat here, especially this semester. i'm going to try and change that by buying steak once a week, or maybe more, regardless of expense. but yeah, 1 steak would probably be ~$7, which is more than what i normally spend per day on food.
