Shit. Now I have to go on an epic quest to find this. I did, however, find the individual packets of pre-ground abuelita. So that's good.

We used to grate the chocolate with a cheese grater and stir that bitch forever. It was always worth it.

oh my gosh what a great idea! i never thought to grate it!

grating was always a subject of jokes at our house cos in spanish you say "rayar." and my mom would tell my brother "raya el queso para las enchiladas." and he would take the block of cheese out of the fridge and a pen and scribble or tag his name on it. that always pissed off my mom and she would throw a spoon at him.

hahahaha! this post made my day. not because of the abuelita syrup thing cause i like the brick better, but because of the familiarity of everything. mi jefa es mejicana and i grew up with that deliciousness. i havent had it in years. my partner is filipino and tho he gets some things he doesnt get everything and how im super mexican sometimes and go nuts for nopales or tejuino!

I realize this is half a year after the fact, but I've been...avoiding the swine flu. yeah.

Anyway, like you said, they have the liquid Abuelita, they have the powdered Abuelita and they also have Abuelita ICE CREAM.

I saw it yesterday at Chedraui (I'm in Mexico) but I bet they have it up nerf too. I didn't buy any because I'm on a diet and I am sure I'd eat the whole damn tub. MMM.
