I wish I were the type to make opinions. Not only make them but state them and stand firm on them. I'm more opinionated than I once was and a friend once told me that as I grew older that would happen. So far he's right and I suppose he'll continue to be, but when I read a book like Hey Nostradamus! where a 17 year old girl has more solid ( Read more... )

That's probably because the 17 yr old girl was written by a 45 yr old man who definately has strong opinions and doesn't quite remember what it was like when he was a 17 yr old girl. (grin)

I think you've got conviction. A sense of right and wrong, and just because you don't have to test it that often doesn't mean you don't have it.

That's probably the case with this book, but I do think there are young girls around who are that opinionated. There's not many but they're there.

I guess I was saying that I wish I were more like those few. It's a half hearted wish though because I'm happy with the way I am and if I truly wanted to be more opinionated then all I would have to do is go Nike on myself, Just do it. har har ^.^

Judging by the post you made after this one, you have more intelligent and true opinions than most. They strike a cord that you just can't ignore. Now that's something.

Yeah, that thought passed through my mind as I was writing that entry. I actually wrote that first entry about my opinions before the other. I just did it while on spring break and didn't have a chance to put it on lj until then.

I know I've got opinions, just not many and the few I have I don't voice often.

I totally know what you mean, My belief is that most of those people is VERY confident of themselves, so whatever they think is already an opinion.

I am not like that, but I do that cause I am aware of my ignorance, and.. I dont believe that I can always have the total and complete truth, so I almost never feel confident enough to have a strong opinion cause I fear there can always be a piece of information I dont know that can make me go wrong.
I always go like "As far as I know", "If my sources are correct", "If my memory isnt cheating on me", and phrases like that, cause I never know what I dont know :P

I dont think that a strong opinion is valid, if it isnt correct, but what I do envy from people who stands firmly for their believes is that they do convince people, even if they are wrong, people believes in their integrity. I call those "salesmen"

Yeah, you get exactly what I'm saying! I also say something like "I feel that..." when making an opinion and my reasons for never doing it are just the same as yours. It feels as though there is always something out there that I don't know that would prove me wrong. Oh well. ^.^
