It's a rant...be warned

I have been watching the last season of Queer as Folk. Wow. I must admit I have been rather emotional over it. Maybe it's the problem I have with developing fictitiuos relationships with people (Paul our Blockbuster guy...we were best friends) or maybe it's that it's just really....realistic ( Read more... )

im a bit confused... you are commenting on how it is ridiculous to openly hate others yet you are openly comparing our president to hitler (in more or less words). isnt that whole freedom of speech thing what allows you to "rant" without being punished for it? i am not saying that racism or discrimination should go unpunished. but hurtful acts are supposed to be punishable. its the justice system that fails there. not the constitution ( ... )

what a fucking ridiculous reply.

i can't even think where to begin.

First, the justice system is based on the constitution.

Second, a middle class white male who decides not to pursue a degree beyond high school is not the same as a lower class black man who would like to go to college but cannot.

Third, no one is arguing that a 22 year old white male with a degree should be denied a job in lieu of a 20 year old black female with no degree. Making ties like this is ignorant.

perhaps you should have at least a small clue about what you're talking about before trying to argue with someone who knows.

its imitation academics like you that make us all a little stupider.

wow... other than being incredibly cruel, i think the reply to the reply is also ignorant. the argument about the 22 vs the 20 year old was about affirmative action which is a large issue at the moment involving racism. secondly, i am a 20 year old middle class white man who CANNOT pursue an education because i cannot afford it financially. i cant get a loan because i have no credit history and seeing as my parents have so much property, their co-sign is useless. but on the other side, the government gives me no aid because my parents have so much property. so no, i am not that much different from a lower class black man who ALSO cant afford school. dont make foolish statements when you do not know MY background either. and the justice system. yes, it is based on the constitution... but unfortunately it is based on a poor interpretation of it. granted the constitution could be more specific, i dont believe it is nearly as flawed as the people that try to read into it. thats all i was saying. so please, do not attack me ( ... )

oh, and i am so sorry for making you "stupider". perhaps you should write a book with your massive wealth of knowledge so us stupider folk can learn some things. oh, but i guess that wouldnt work seeing as my stupider self done forgot how to read and such with my lack of pursuing further education.

ahhhh shoooooooot.

Damn it. I don't feel like thoroughly reading those previous comments (except for Alec's because it was nice and short and that IS a cool movie), so I'll ignore them.

Once I wrote a letter to Norm Coleman about the importance of public broadcasting (it was a couple of weeks ago, actually) and an automated response told me he would get to it ASAP and respond. But... he hasn't. And Betty McCollum and Kennedy never even did that. It was very disheartening because that was a GOOD ESSAY/LETTER!
