Avatar sequel

Nicklodeon has announced a sequel to Avatar: The Last Airbender entitled The Legend of Korra. Press release:

Tentatively titled "The Legend of Korra," the animated series will premiere in 2011 and focus on the next Avatar, a young female called Korra ( Read more... )

I'm so glad that this whole movie thing hasn't completely destroyed interest in the series. Hopefully the new show will be able to keep the same vibe that made the original so awesome. :)

Although I have to admit that my first thought upon seeing the picture of Korra was, she looks like a waterbender... why is she learning airbending last? Isn't airbending most similar to waterbending?

but I am sure it will all be explained in the series :)

Isn't it because the avatar has to master the elements in a certain order? The cycle is Fire-->Air-->Water-->Earth. So if she starts from water, air has to come last.

That sounds plausible but totally unfamiliar. WHY DO I NOT REMEMBER THIS FROM THE SERIES clearly a re-watch is in order.
