The US Supreme Court is set to examine whether or not Congress is able to restore copyright protection for a creative work that is in the public domain, ie., works over which copyright has expired.

I ... I don't even know where to begin with how insane it would be if public domain works can be brought back under copyright O.o;;

Erm... yeah. Even considering that it would be somewhat limited in scope to whatever the highest current copyright law is on the planet, that is something that could theoretically be changed at any time and whoosh, there goes a lot of stuff jumping back into copyright. This is a bad idea all around.

Because that's what the US needs to be doing right now, further hindering creativity.
