TIL - LJ T&C WTF

So, being the complete internet/IP law nerd that I am, I decided to wander over and read the LiveJournal Terms & Conditions. And I have made a shocking discovery.

LJ's Terms of Service does not contain an explicit "users/authors grant this website a world-wide, royalty-free, non-exclusive, etc. licence to use your content and host/communicate it on ( Read more... )

How is it so hard for you to accept that sometimes things get drafted by morons? *amused* Yes, I know it's basic, but some people REALLY ARE THAT STUPID.

Because LJ has been around for years, is now one of the old established blogging platforms of the Internet, it's not just some little start up hence my utter shock and disbelief!

Yeah, but it was once, maybe nobody ever really bothered stuffing around with it much? It's such a basic clause no one would ever actually bother to sue them for leaving it out, so presumably there'd be no impetus to fix it.

Their T&C's were last revised in December last year, and given that LJ has changed hands at least once you'd think they would have had /some/ comprehensive review.
