Di was insisting that this was cheating. I was saying we were calling in the reinforcements because she was a terrifying old dragon. It was one of our perennial debates (if you can call any conversation with a nearly three year old a 'debate'), and as usual, she was winning, because her logic extended to 'yes it is because I say so'. Either way, this was...well, it'd be fun, and help me ignore all the idiocy, or insanity of what was happening in the real world.
When we got to France, she insisted on clambering on my back, so I obliged her, amused by the whole thing, "I thought people rode dragons, not the otherway around." I sighed and then knocked at Cadence's door. Much better than going to see my sister.
Jack squealed when he heard the knock at the door, and I saw his little naked bottom run past me to the front of the house. I sighed and hauled myself up, grabbing him and forcibly putting the jeans back on to him. "Just one minute! Hold on!" I glared at Jackie as I buttoned him back into his little trousers. "You, keep your clothes on. I'm not having my son run around naked with a little girl in the house."
Letting Jack go to play in the living room, I pulled open the door and smiled. "Hello, you two. Come on in."
I stepped inside and carefully let Di off my shoulder, helping her get her shoes off, "What was I holding on for, or should I not ask?" I raised an eyebrow at how big she was, as I'd almost forgotten she was...well, yes. Di ran off into the living room and there was a burst of laughter, so I decided to follow her. Oh, snicker. "Cadence. Your son's half naked. Is this what he does to occupy himself?"
I didn't get to answer, because before I could explain that my son was a free spirit and hated the confines of clothing there was laughter coming from my living room. I shook my head and followed Dylan, knowing full well what was waiting for me. "Unfortunately, yes," I sighed, looking at Jack's little bum as he ran around the coffee table. "He's going through a phase. I'm sorry, Di, sweetie. Just ignore him."
"In fact, just excuse me while I handle this. Help yourself to whatever's in the kitchen." Of course Jack just couldn't run into my arms or slow up, nooo, I had to chase him out of the living room and into his bedroom. I decided to put him in some overalls, then pinned him into it and glared at him. "Clothes on, pally."
