I think time will determine what was art and what was...pop, for lack of a better term. In a hundred years if we're still listening to her like we read Emily Dickinson poems then I'd believe it's art, at least in someone's eyes. I hate Palmer and most of Dickinson, just to be clear :P

Art doesn't have to be great you know. There's bad art too. Although I suppose if we're talking about Amanda Palmer, she thinks her stuff is amazing on some level other art is not? When she declares she is going to do art, it always seems so redundant to me. I mean, yeah, well duh, obviously you're going to make art. But is your piece going to be the Mona Lisa or the Velvet Elvis Painting the Bar downstairs has hanging on their wall. In Palmers case, it's much closer to the latter ( ... )
