the weather is improving. there are daffodils, crocuses, and periwinkle in bloom. my birthday is fast approaching. 20 is just so... my cousin Katie is engaged at 21 to a boy that looks like my father did when he was young. all bright smile and clear eyed.  she is only two years older than me. when my mother was 21 she lost the twins. today in the washington post magazine I read an  article about latinas with blond hair - it brought up a lot of mixed feelings. the author Belén Aranda Alvarado is Chilean, she talked about not "looking" latina enough because of her light skin and straight hair. its something I've heard quite a few times - I could be "darker" if I wanted but I don' ( Read more... )

I am pretty happy right now. my sister plus the little people are going to be in town for my 20th birthday. not to mention my lovely tingting will be home for a month!!!!!
