Not a zombie

On Friday March 27th, I left work much earlier than usual 'cause, you see, there was a much anticipated package waiting for me home.  Yep, yep, you guessed it: on that morning, my Love greeted the infamous N'Egyptian~!

The moment my eyes met his sockets, I knew his picture would never adorn a marketplace thread.

Yeah... I know, I must be the only one who didn't anticipate this turn of events.

... ;¬_¬

*ahem*

So, as you may suspect, I spent my entire week-end working with Finster.  Yes, his name is Finster and in German, it means all sorts of nifty things like dark, gaunt, gloomy, and louring... but he pronounces it in English.

Good news for anyone who'd like to try: Soom's gray resin can be sanded easily!  Discoloration will appear only if you remove too much of the top layer... but from my experience, this happens even with white resin.

I'm rather proud of Finster's face-up and blushing.  For once, I used references!  The pictures were extremely useful, and can be found here, on a web server belonging to one of Tufts University's departments.  I'd like to warn you, just in case: this is a labguide for an anatomy class, so expect to see an actual dissected old man.

'Nuff said.  Everyone, meet Finster:

He likes to say he gives a whole new meaning to the phrase 'carrion bird'...  Can't help but think of the proverb 'you are what you eat', even though his diet would certainly not be restricted to rotting carcasses. ^_^

Wonder where I found such a nice decrepit background for this photo?  Why, in my living room, of course!  Here's Kiylan in front of an eloquent peeling wall (no kidding, this apt is full of endless possibilities!) :

Seriously, since I love my dilapidated buildings so much, I thought I should devote my summer to what I learned is called 'urban exploration'.  I didn't know that whenever I squeezed under a rusty fence to take a few pics I could call myself an explorer.  I feel so cool now~!  Anyone would wanna accompany me some sunny day on a trip to an old brewery or an abandoned house?

Oh, yes!  Since taking indoor pictures under poor lighting conditions (like, let's say, today's low cloud cover) can be frustrating, I thought I'd try something new with mine.  The 3 shots above were victims of my own understanding of a concept called HDR or high dynamic range imaging.  It consists of stacking 3 examples of the same pic: a regular shot, an underexposed one and an overexposed one.  I mingled everything using GIMP and played with filters a teensy bit, but I'm quite proud of my gritty results. ^_^

Before I forget, there are a few companies I'd like to order from:

- BPAL! - I know Creamyjade and Almathea would like some stuff...  Anyone else? (btw, you can be proud: I'm the one who incidentally convinced Almathea to join the cult)
- Dollmore - I sold the Meditation head that came along with Finster, so I'm back to having money in my Paypal!  Woohoo~!
- Possibly this shop, but only if I find a volunteer to share the $20 EMS shipping with me...
- Also, if ever someone orders from Luts, there's a pair of boots I've been eying for a while...

Before I leave, here's John Takara, cosplaying as a young Crowley.  Not Alister, of course, but Anthony J., from Good Omens. ^_^
Too bad I don't have dark sunglasses... yet.
