Wedding gift question---
We got married in March. A couple gave us $XXX as a present. We can't afford to give that much back as a gift to them for their wedding.
Is it tacky/cheap to give a lesser amount? It would be obvious since we'd be writing a check.
Note: People usually give money as a present in NJ. I could give a gift, but I never have and its just not whats done here.
Also-- for those who give cash as a present-- do you usually cover your plate? what do you think about that "policy?"
EDIt: sorry, they are getting married next month. I meant giving it back as in, what to give them as a gift. Sorry for the confusion.
