Mega:Secret Headquarters:Java

Feb 06, 2005 00:05

Mega was veritably glued to his monitor and computer as he worked on his big project. The meeting with Macon and Dan had left him agitated, irritated, and uninterested in anything minutely unimportant. Some tried to interrupt him and they merely got ignored or snapped at, and now the room was quiet, save for the hum of the machines and a few of his ( Read more... )

The upload had taken longer than she'd expected; Ram had a maddening habit of arranging his folders in ingenious ways that, to Java's knowledge, made no sense whatsoever to absolutely anyone else, and it had taken to time to ensure that she'd gotten everything. The hour had been spent pacing somewhat nervously in his bedroom, her boots leaving heavy footprints on his carpet that she'd had to scuff away when she was done, one ear always trained for the sound of the front door opening. Had he caught her, after all, she'd have had quite a time of explaining herself.

But Ram hadn't come home, and the project was done; his laptop was as he'd left it, and it was with a defiant gleam in her eyes that Java now pushed her way into Mega's headquarters. There were, as always, idiot goons who dared question her as she entered, but the morning's sex and her most recent technological sin had put a tilt to her jaw and a tone to her forearm that quickly dispelled any complaints. Java loved idiot goons ( ... )

Mega looked to his right with a bit of a glare before looking back to his computer. He was like an animal on the hunt, working hard on his little code, that he hadn't even realized it was Java. He'd simply assumed it was some crew member interrupting his work yet again and he knew he could fob them off with his simple look. Four keystrokes after the fact, he straightened his back, faltering in his typing, "Hello Java," he greeted plainly, blinking his eyes, trying to come back from the frame of mind he'd been in. His finger moved up to his ear piece, "Line please. Yes, Line, she's here, we'll meet you in the room," he told him simply, severing the connection by removing his finger.

Pushing his chair back calmly, he saved and closed the program before standing, "Here for your booster? Let's go," he motioned at the doorway before turning and walking away from her. Shake it off, do not be impolite, he reminded himself, stopping as he entered the hallway to turn and wait for her, his hands behind his back, left wrist clasped loosely in ( ... )

"You know, Mega," Java offered, following him into the room with a swing to her hips, "I'm sure we could work out some way to get me back here every day that -didn't- involve your middle man." She took a seat on the bed, swinging her legs up and putting her heavy, booted feet down on the sheets with deliberate disregard. "I mean, it's a little... demeaning for a girl like me... Don't you think?" Leaning back on her elbows, she gave him what would have been an unquestionably "come hither" look had they been in any other situation, one brow arching up teasingly as she smirked ( ... )

Mega stood halfway between the door and the bed, arms now crossed over his chest, watching her, examining her body language, feeding off of her words, her charisma, her every little movement. He didn't respond to her snide remarks, simply stood watching, lips slightly pursed, eyes slightly narrowed. Even the look that seemed to invite Mega to join her in the bed seemed not to affect him, though he swallowed the lump in his throat down hard, lifting his chin indignantly ( ... )
