After having met Druaga in the Nexus, X was understandably disturbed and concerned. As the conversation had gone on, it became more and more apparent that the Hunters from his world had a valid concern that Druaga could be dangerous.
Druaga was quite callous over the apparently accidental possible 'deaths' of Alia and Axl's personalities. He seemed not to care about their individuality or right to exist - and in fact had seemed to indicate that Alia would be better off becoming Druaga rather than being herself. It seemed quite likely that he would care just as little about intentionally destroying others' personalities as he did about accidentally having done so.
Despite Druaga's initial story of betrayal and unjust accusations, something had felt 'off' about his story from early on. By the end of the conversation, X knew Druaga had left important details out. He decided he needed to know the other side of the story. If he knew more, he'd know what he was dealing with. And maybe he could help Alia or even Axl while he was at it.
X regretted having mentioned his long-haired alternate being in the Nexus. Even if there was nothing he could do to help the alternate Alia, or salvage Axl from Druaga, X felt his alternate needed to know that Druaga was in the Nexus - and knew he was there too.
So X had gone home, and after a bit of thought, took a piece of stationary and wrote a short note on it. Then he mentally reached out and called Zanzibar to him.
The little bronze firelizard appeared from between with a small gust of chill air and a greeting warble. X smiled and held out a hand for Zanzibar to land on. "Hello, there. What have you been up to?"
Zanzibar chirred as X scritched and fussed over him a bit. The firelizard projected a sense of smug victory. From the images he sent, X picked up that Zanzibar had been chasing pigeons and had been playing with the tailfeathers he'd snatched from them during tag. X snorted softly and laughed. "Silly lizard."
"I've got something very important for you to do." X murmured, accompanying his words with thoughts, images, and emotions to convey his request to the bronze. Zanzibar chirruped in curiosity. "I want you to take this message to the long-haired X. The one you met in the Nexus." X slipped the note into a pocket on Zanzibar's harness as he sent mental images of the shaggy-haired alternate X that Zanzibar had told him about earlier. "It's about this person." X provided images of Druaga and his accompanying unease and caution about the shapeshifter. "This is very important, and I know you can do it. I want you to wait for X's reply. Understand?"
Zanzibar trilled and nuzzled against X's hand as the bronze repeated the mental instructions and affirmation. Of course Zanzibar could do that. He was the best bronze ever!
X chuckled. "Then off you go." Zanzibar trilled and leaped off X's arm and into the air before
vanishing between on a trip between realities.
