I would prefer it if you talented writers would please stop using the word (adverb? adjective?) "impossibly".

Well, it isn't very Sherlockian, is it? It isn't impossible, just very improbable, isn't it? I THINK IT WAS SHERLOCK HOLMES WHO SAID SO.

Seems that these oddities show up in many, if not all, fandoms. I find it more common in the large fandoms where quirks are passed on by reading a fic and incorporating it into a new fic as if it's part of an "extended canon".

The one that's been driving me batty recently is giving characters pet names or using shortened versions of their name. It's especially annoying when they do that to a character that would probably kill someone if called a pet name or an annoying diminutive.
