Hurrah for strike! As of tomorrow, the teachers will be on strike to support the health care workers and therefor, getting us out of school! All districts in B.C. get Monday off! Three cheers for Mr. Strike!
I went to Whonnock Lake with Candace yesterday and surprisingly enough, I didn't get sunburned. Nor did I go swimming... But hey, who needs cool water on a HOT summer day? Not I, said the Maddie. Anyway, we went hunting for frogs and we saw a sign that said Do not enter, swamp-like conditions beyond this point. But, knowing me and Candace, we ignored it. So, there we were, looking around for little croakers and we see a big patch of what looks like hardish mud. Beyond the mud there's a small puddle-ish area and we're thinking that there must be some frogs in there. Candace sends me out first to try and get to a board placed in the middle of the mud and I make it okay. Sure, I'm a little bit muddy but not that much. In steps Candace and splork. Her foot sinks down a tad. She shrugs and takes another step, putting all her weight on the mud. And now, she's up to her ankles in goosh. So, she leaps out, leaving her sandals stuck in the sponge-like mud for me to retrieve. After about five or so minutes, I've pried her shoes out of there with the end of our net and then I'm sinking in the mud! It was hilarious. But, we actually did end up catching a frog. We named him Mr. Lazy-Frog because he didn't even try to hop away. He was so cute but we had to let him go.
Ooh! We saw two eels and they were so creepy! And one of them was in Mr. Lazy's puddle and we were afraid to put him back in. But then another frog dived under the puddle and we thought it was Mr. Lazy's family member so we put him in.
I watched The Parent Trap at Candace's last night. It's dumb because the parents met on a cruise ship and then, on that same cruise ship, they got married! Jeepers... Way to be drunk! No wonder they got a divorce...
I went to this Women of Tomorrow thingy on Friday and it was kind of neat. You got to pick three workshops that you wanted and you got a Free Lunch! I went in "Dream Catchers" where I made this funky dream catcher that's different shades of blue and pink, "Self-Esteem" where they showed the vidoe that my class made with me as the low-self-esteem-girl and "Nail and Henna Art" where I painted my nails really funkily [it's a word!]. The person who was doing the Henna Art had to leave though so I didn't get any Henna. *Sniff* Oh well, the Henna stuff smelled kind of funky... I got a free waterbottle [with a whistle straw!], two pens, some lipgloss and a journal from the Women of Tomorrow thing and it was neat.
YES! NO SCHOOL!
