He's back this weekend. I guess I should be happy about this. It means I get to see him and hang out and have fun like old times. But he's never around even when he has time off. Shouldn't his family be more important then his friends and buying things? It feels like I don't even have a father anymore. When he tries to talk to me I push him away ( Read more... )

Aw man, Chelsea babe, I'm sorry. But you are still a wonderful person!!! I personally have never been through what you're going through, but I'm sure it sucks royally. But maybe if you talked to him about it? Then you could see if you guys could work things out. And don't EVER let your mom tell you who to be. You are just amazing the way you are!

Sadly, we are all who we are because of influence from other people, especailly family members. But the fact of the matter is, in the end, YOU decide who you are, your mother doesn't. Just remember that. I don't know how much sense that made... or how relevant it was... that sort of thing happens when I try to say something helpful about something I can't empathise with... All I can say is to maybe give your dad one last chance - and remember that its only a few more years until you're out of your stressful home life and into your own college life, which will probably be equally stressful but in a different way. A way that you can fix to more of a degree than parent problems.
