When I was younger, I used to get terrible nose bleeds all the time. I wouldn't even have to have hit my nose on anything, all of a sudden I'd feel like my nose was a little runny, and I'd check and there's just be blood, not snot, coming out ( Read more... )

Oh no, Wendy! I'm sorry you have to live with your condition FOREVER. :-(

Seriously though, when you get a nosebleed, DON'T tilt your head back. Kind of lean forward and pinch your nose shut with direct pressure to kind of the middle part of the bridge of your nose. Not your nostrils or the part where your nose connects with your head. We learned that in EMT class.

Yeah, I know. That's what I normally do, and that's what I was TRYING to do.
However, there was SO much blood, that when I leaned forward, it would pour out uncontrollably, bleed past the tissues and run all over my face. It was sooo bad, Carl.
When I get a nosebleed, I normally first lean foward and pinch, but if it's too heavy, i'll lean back for a little while and it usually gets better. Then i'll stuff a little piece of tissue up my nose to clot the blood after it calms down. Haha.

Wendy, I used to get nose bleeds all the time too! The worst was getting them in school. I remember just running out of the classroom to the bathroom a couple times because I didn't have any tissue. :( Not fun.

Yeah! Omg I used to be terrified I'd have to get that done! But I did go to the doctor about it a few times, and they didn't think I should have to do that. They just told me to buy nose drops! haha

Could be getting too dry at your place. Maybe a humidifier would help.
