This is really, really wonderful! Thank you so very much for filling my prompt. Comfort and sappiness are just what I need ATM and your story is filled with both.
I love all the layers of emotions that you showed between these two. Particularly good was Elena crying more for him than herself and silencing her own feelings because he needs her more in this situation (which I totally agree with).
As hard as it will be for her to let Stefan go, it doesn't really compare to the history and intensity that Damon & Stefan share, making it much harder for Damon to let him go. Although, both of them (Damon & Elena) are equally bad in their ability to do so.
I just adored how they were simply there drawing comfort from one another. They both have the intrinsic ability and desire to be whatever the other needs. *sigh* How beautifully romantic is that???Another particularly good thing was Damon teasing her. I love the way you acknowledged the attraction between them without making the whole story about that. It was just right, IMO

Oh, thank you! I'm so glad that you enjoyed this since it was your prompt! :) And I completely agree with you--Elena may love Stefan, but Damon is his brother, and has been by his side (in a sense) far longer than Elena has. So, of course it's going to be horribly difficult for him to let go. Even in moments where you figured he'd done just that, he hadn't.

The teasing is so very Damon, and he's trying hard here to not fall apart entirely.

I'll be honest; I wasn't expecting great quality of writing with such a short little one shot. I was very pleasantly surprised. I really like how you handled this. I think it's realistic to how the characters were feeling at the end of 3x09 and is very in character after that particular hardship. The attempts at being light hearted and funny were well done. It shows that Damon is trying to be himself, and he is trying to cheer her up a little bit even if it falls short of doing so. Again, it was just really well written and thought out. Thank you. Very well done.
