I prefer the Indian. I find it to have just the right level of sweetness, and still be relatively flavor-neutral, such that it goes with any gin I have. If price wasn't an object, I'd never use anything else.
A friend with less of a sweet tooth swears that the Light is the finest tonic there is. We agree to disagree.
I love the Fever Tree ad hook: roughly 2/3rds of your drink is mixer, so why would you use bad ones? My 'rail' tonic is Seagrams or Schweppes. Canada Dry isn't dry at all, it's way too sweet, and I have yet to find a generic brand that isn't awful. But for a top-shelf gin & tonic, definitely Fever Tree Indian, or possibly soda water and a tonic syrup like Strong tonic, depending on how well that goes with the gin.
