I saw the coolest thing today. I got outta school and got on the bus to go home. i gotta take a few to get there, cuz my school's downtown and i live up north. meanwhile, when i was waiting downtown for the 2nd bus to arrive i saw 2 guys, an obviously gay couple, walkin down Congress (the "mainstreet" of downtown Austin) headed toward the Capitol (

that would make me smile too. i'm not gay, but i think it's ridiculous the way our laws, religions, and culture treats them. if a straight couple did the same thing, nobody would even notice. the point is, people see homosexuality as strange and unusual. the whole gay marriage issue has gone way out of control, and i won't even go there. but my basic perspective is, if a couple of gay people want to live out their lives as if they're married, why not just let them go ahead and make it legally official. it won't hurt you. the whole "ruining the institution of marriage" argument is like you saying to me that i shouldn't shoot my tv because it ruins the TV industry. Sure it ruins THAT tv (here the analogy fails, imho, because i think a gay marriage can be perfectly successful, but hopefully you get my point) but your tv, and the tvs of most people, are still just as they always were. and finally, they're stereotyped into being feminine, sex-loving interior-designers. sure, some of them are, but not all. that last point about stereotypes

I got your analogy, dude. made sense to me. and your last pint wasn't weak either, hehe. there ARE alot a gay people like that. most people see em all that way because they cant think outside of the box and picture a gay person acting "like them". meanwhile, i've seen more and more shit about gay marriages in papers, lately, than i care to ever see again about anything else. you know, it just chaps my ass the way the gov't can bar gay people from doing all sortsa things to ENJOY their lives the same as anyone else, but they sure as fuck don't seem to mind collecting their taxes and applying all the other RESTRICTIVE laws to em. ratbastard congress.
