quick rant, pt 2 (subtitle=the long version)
so, after RMA'ing my 8gb flash zune and only receiving a refund, i was distraught. eventually, i happened upon a red 30gb zune, which i promptly sniped (yes, i'm that asshole).
and so far it's been a fucking annoying experience.
i have zero complaints about the hardware. i'm in love with it..it does exactly what i want it to, within the confines of the software that controls it. i'll also compliment the social aspect of the zune software (that you're forced to install on your pc, not the actual zune OS) before i go on - there are a few things they could do to better it, but it definitely brings to mind a facebook/xbl vibe that is actually kinda cool. and achievements for listening to music? what kind of addictive bullshit is this?!
now....the bad. the software. both the OS and the piece of shit that i'm forced to install in order to use this fabulous hardware.
let's start with the fact that there's no way to import your existing playlists/ratings/whatever from the biggest game in town (apple). fuck, you can't even import your playlists/ratings/etc from windows media player. googling for ways to do this actually turns up the fact that this used to be a feature in the zune software. somewhere along the line, the software got updated to use this horrible system of "<3", "
yeah. not so happy about it. i'm thinking about putting it all back on ebay, along with the usb cable pack i had to buy, then using that cash to buy an ipod. -_-
