So here is my theory on how to help the gas prices which would lower the product prices as well. I think we should start a fund of every person throwing in a dollar to the truck drives. If they stop working and delivering goods americans would not have products to buy. The government would finally have to step in and put a stop to the oil

The better of the two ideas: Reduce oil consumption by making things that last. We wouldn't use nearly as much oil to make fuel to ship all of that crap or to make plastic.
That toaster? Twice as expensive, but it lasts five times as long.
That car? Make it last 50 years, or about 750,000 miles.
Basically, you'd have to have companies that didn't have planned obsolescence, or the idea that everything should be replaced after four or five years.
After a while, a lot of manufacturers would just make enough stuff to replace the stuff they sold you decades ago.
I can't imagine the economy can continue growing infinitely anyway. After a while, there has to be some leveling off.
The other idea: Make a four-day work week the standard. Less driving and consumption leads to less demand for fuel.
The possible drawback is that, with three days off weekly, people might actually drive more in their free time.
