hey, where in illinois are you from? i'm from oak park, just west of the city, and i actually just transferred to oxy this year from depaul--i am majoring in poly sci, i might also go to law school. you can definitely minor in theatre, the double major might be a little hard but it's definitely doable.
the atmosphere really makes the school. it's amazing. everyones smart but no ones pretentious, everyones friendly, it's like living in a giant neighborhood where you smile at everyone you walk by and it's just beautiful. send me any other questions you have, i'm in love with this place.
As a senior here at Oxy, I'd have to say that I'm coming out of the school able to give it a recommendation... I've had a fantastic time here the last few years.
Oxy's great if you understand the limitations. The variety of classes that larger "small schools" have just isn't here... friends at places like Chapman or Loyola Marymount talk about things like "Animation History" courses and other amazing sounding programs that we just don't have. But god, all of those nights cruising Mulholland Dr. with friends, attacking the beach at two in the morning, shopping for records at Amoeba... I wouldn't give up the friends I made, the battles I've fought, and person I've become living in this city and making this school my home for anything. Los Angeles is a trip, and Oxy is right in the middle of it (hilariously, Eagle Rock was just featured in the Los Angeles Times last week as the "new" hipster destination in LA. Who the hell knew

my main advice would be, when considering any school, is to visit! for me, the visiting was really what made my decision for me. i was picking between two of the claremont colleges and oxy and when i went into it, i thought oxy was going to be my last choice, but after visiting it became my first choice. but yeah. i second what the person above said, about people being smart but nice/laid back. it's a really friendly campus, and it's in a great location. anyway yes! visit, and come to oxy! about 90% of my friends are in some way affiliated with the theater department too (i'm not a theater major, but i do costumes), so if you do come here, i'm sure we'll run into each other a lot. haha.
