as one of the last anthro majors at oxy (i just graduated last week) i would say it's fairly similar to the previous anthro program at oxy, though definitely not the same. i think the best way to get a feel for it is to look at the course offerings on oxy's website and really ready all the descriptions. what they say are what the classes are; no more, no less. for me, i was disappointed in not having the less critical anthro courses (ancient civilizations, anthrpology of the middle east, general anthro things, etc...) but it definitely fills a part of the hole. if you're into the activist/critical side of anthropology then ctsj is perfect for you. i think dwa and ctsj would be interesting to do together ( ... )

even though the professors in the department worked to formally change anthro to ctsj many are still very "into" anthropology. talking to professor tobin you'll find that he is still an active anthropologist (same as chin) and invested in its existence in higher education with the caveat that it remains self-reflective. the attitude is basically that anthro is just being more honest about its problems. the major's shift to ctsj simply reflects its sustainability and dynamism. maybe sociology and psychology will take note.
