Girls are stupid and so are their movies

Um ... yeah, Red Riding Hood has some pretty blatant sexual coming-of-age themes to it, so it's not like filming it as a sexual piece is really much of a stretch.

I've liked a fair number of Ebert's posts and comments, but this one seems to be a faceplant, especially in the second paragraph.

Ebert's tastes don't always align with mine, so reading his reviews can be a bit hit or miss for me, but usually I can respect the points he makes, even if I disagree. Just about everything he wrote in this particular review, though, makes me want to bite someone.

Let's not forget that "girls don't know the difference between fiction and reality" because women reading too many romance novels is something to clutch pearls over, yet nobody expects men (or people) of thinking it's a good idea to eat tasty brains from too many zombie flicks/novels.

The wolf in Red Riding Hood scares patriarchy, because it's a wild thing calling to the delicate flowers of womanhood that are supposed to be firmly within the patriarchy's protected and civilized walls.
