Tools popping out from Google toolbox

Oct 18, 2004 19:57

Few week back Google released Google Desktop tool for searching on our own computer.

Next Google has released Picasa, an Automatic Photo Organizer tool.
Once you Download this application, it automatically finds and indexes all the graphics files on the computer. It also displays the thumbnails size of it which is large enough to see.

One discussion on slashdot says - google may bring out an Instant messenger. Someone have found that google is using a google_im:// protocol in desktop search tool. May be that is linked to Instant messenger.

Can Google Desktop be used for searching in network desktop also? I have not yet explored this tool as the purpose is not yet useful for me.

If you mount the remote share, and index it, you can search it.

Picasa was a separate company that google bought a few months ago. They released the windows version at that time, but no signs of any other versions. Google is becoming very uncool in their lack of geek support.
