Title: Shoved Aside
Author: twilightsrain/edenbound (ficjournal)
Fandom: Final Fantasy X-2
Pairing: Gippal/Baralai
Theme: #32, Fantasy
Rating: PG
Summary: Baralai dreams of Gippal coming to save him.

Shuyin sort of shoves him aside and makes him a stranger to his own mind, but that's okay, he doesn't want any part of what's going on. He doesn't want the hurt in Gippal's eyes or the dangerous promise in Nooj's look, or the sadness and resignation in Yuna's stance or the hyperalert tension in Rikku or the calm quiet center of Paine's energy. He doesn't want to hurt, he doesn't want to feel Shuyin's despair even a moment longer.

So he hopes. He hopes that Gippal will save him, he hopes that Yuna will figure out some way to help him. She's supposed to be good at all that and he knew from the first time he saw her that she was a clever kind of girl.

He kind of dreams of Gippal coming to save him, actually. He's not sure how long Shuyin has been inside him pushing him out, but he's been dreaming of being saved since whenever that started. There's barely room for his own thoughts so that's all he focuses on, no matter what.

Gippal will come, he tells himself.

He has to.
