Things work out...

Words cannot express the gratitude I feel right now. Thank you to all of you who have offered advice or monetary help. As it turns out, gjunell, a kind spirit whom many of you know (and a close neighbor of mine) has stepped up and helped me out. I am now at least certain that all the time, money, and emotional energy I've invested in my preparations ( Read more... )

"Banking history" is as real as your "permanent record". Don't worry about it.

Ultimately, you and Tyler are right in that this doesn't really affect my credit much (if at all) in the bigger picture. My overdraft protection took care of everything so I didn't get charged any fees and my check didn't ultimately bounce. So, that's good. Also, my rent is paid up early which means the direct deposit I get on Sept. 1 is all mine. I'll be able to pay back my loan from Greg as soon as I get back from BM. :)

Hooray I'm so glad this all worked out! Hope you know that despite being in LA, the Krammies are still very much your family. :)

"Relief" Yes, that is the term but it falls short somehow. I will substitute (relief * 100) as the value of how I feel right now. I will be extra happy to see you out there too, my friend. :)

Re: By the way.... _phaedrus_ August 24 2006, 23:46:13 UTC
Hehe, don't think it hasn't ocurred to me. I actually pay all my bills through Bill Pay with the notable exception of rent. Two things have stopped me:
1. My property managers are literally one block from my place. I can walk by there and drop off my check on the way to the cafe on any given night, so I feel a little silly setting up the whole automated thing when it's a 1 minute walk.

2. As you mentioned the scheduling can be funky because of the delay. As it happens, the money I was hoping to pay rent with is being direct deposited on the same day rent is due. If I scheduled Bill Pay to send it then, my rent would actually show up a couple days late. Admittedly, that's usually not the case and I could schedule it earlier but this month it wouldn't have helped.
