1. What did you do in 2008 that you'd never done before?
Visited San Francisco. Directed handbells. Lost my job. Moved my baby brother in to college.
2. Did you keep your new year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I didn't make any. Not a fan.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Theresa did. (She's my "big" cousin, and was my personal attendant at my wedding.)
4. Did anyone close to you die?
No. *Knock on wood*
5. What countries did you visit?
Just mine.
6. What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008?
Still hoping for those platelets.
7. What dates from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
None that I can recall.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Nothing in particular. I wasn't the big achiever this year. Left that to Matt and Tommy.
9. What was your biggest failure?
I make it a point not to have those. :-)
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
I did have to go to the ER after passing out one time. But I think that was ultimately related to my little autoimmune issue.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
Technically, I bought my car from my dad. For the grand price of $28.50 (the cost of changing a title from parent to child in MN).
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
My baby brother graduated from high school and started at my college. :-)
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
For lack of anything better - the Hollywood Screen Writers. Particularly, whoever wrote the last NBC episode of Scrubs.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Rinkside seats to the Wild game.

Maybe the "Wicked" soundtrack. I've been listening to it nonstop for over a month.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
I. happier or sadder? It's hard to beat post-wedding euphoria. But I'm doing alright.
II. thinner or fatter? Hard to say. Ask me again right before I go to Maui.
III. richer or poorer? Richer.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Working.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Sweating the small stuff.

Christmas Eve - Matt & I alone, and with my mom's family
Christmas Day - waking up at my parents' house, spending time at Matt's parents' house, then back to my grandparents' house

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Eh. Not worth the time.

I probably read way too much to properly answer this question. I have been enjoying the Potluck Club books.

A job. But I think I'd like more of one.

I turned 23 and went to a bar for a drink or two with some close friends.
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
That's a lot of pressure. I think my parents and my in-laws were hit especially hard by the stock market crash. We could have done without that, with 3 siblings in college and one about to start private high school.

My students.

Pretty much with my family - the new and the old.

I don't actually buy CDs. Maybe I should stop using a 5-year-old meme. Top albums? Wicked Soundtrack, David Cook, Kenny Loggins' "Return to Pooh Corner"...
42. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2008.
Hm... Last year, I wrote "Things have a funny way of coming together." This year, I would add only that I'm starting to see God in those "funny ways."
43. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
Hmm... I'm kind of at a loss. I'll keep thinking.
