It's strange how I always think of only beings like sylphs and fairies as divine immortal beings of this world and others, of them as the only ones who have responsibilities toward the Earth.
Gnomes and salamanders.. well, they do provide energy and they are certainly stewards and spirits of different elements. (I have this image in my head of how nature *should* look, full of spritely things and tinkling laughter, but great big trees can have small noises and slow, deep, rumbly voices too.)
This is.. freeing, for me, to realize how things I sometimes think of as "ugly" on sight are really just themselves, and that's ok. There is as much to learn from the trees and earth and damp leaves as there is from air and fire.
