Lights! Camera! Action!

Okay, so, I normally don't do these questionnaire thingies, but, dude, it's about films!movies!cinema! And I love films. So, I just had to answer the questions. Beside, princesskirsty asked me so nicely, how could I refuse?

1) Total number of films I own on DVD/video:
Um...I'm a film whore? Does that answer the question properly? Although, I've recently signed on to Netflix, so, I tend to have more pocket money.

2) The last film I bought:
City of Lost Children
*An awesome French film. Funny, scary, weird...You really can't go wrong*

3) The last film I watched:
The Times of Harvey Milk
*C'mon, people. Get with it! It's about the assassination of Harvey Milk, San Francisco's first elected gay councilor (Did you know his assassin was imprisoned for FIVE years? That's it. Yep. Five fucking years.)

4) Five films that I watch a lot or that mean a lot to me:
I found this question to be very difficult. Because films that I watch a lot (like "Shaun of the Dead" or "The Nightmare Before Christmas") don't necessarily *mean a lot to me*, you know? So, here goes:

Aimee and JaguarIt's based on a true story about two women who fall in love in Berlin during WWII. One of them is a Jew and the other is a Nazi officer's wife. It has a) one of the most beautiful lovemaking scenes EVER and b) one of the most heart-wrenching separations EVER. Plus, the acting is incredible. I couldn't stop thinking about it after I first saw it.

Singing in the Rain I know, I know. It's a fucking MUSICAL, right? Well, screw you. It's what got me into musicals in the first place. And without musicals, my life would be dull and uninspiring.

The Dark Crystal Yep. That weird Jim Henson film. But, come on, if I'm gonna like a "children's movie," it might as well be something as strange and fascinating as "The Dark Crystal." I pity those of you who've never seen it, or, worse yet, like "The Labyrinth" more. Beside, "The Dark Crystal" is Brian Froud's masterpiece.

The Original Star Wars Trilogy Hey! Shut up! It's my first fandom!! >.< If I have to choose a favorite out of the three, it's episode five, "The Empire Strikes Back" for numerous reasons 1) "Luke, I am your father" 2) The Cloud City 3) The hilarious introduction of *Master* Yoda 4) The awesome midair lightsaber duel between Darth Vader and Luke 5) Solo and Leia hook up, and most importantly, 6) No goddamn Ewoks.

The Celluloid Closet The most important documentary on the depiction of homosexuality in the film industry. It helped shape who I am today.

Actually, all of these films have sculpted me. But, so many more have too. I hate you, princesskirsty, for making me do this and making me choose only FIVE FILMS?!??

Um, I'm supposed to get five people to do this, but, uh...that's not really my thing and I only know a few of you well enough to ask >.<
