Hello everyone! I've loved Practical Magic for years, so I'm very happy to have found a community dedicated to it. I adore everything about the movie. I remember watching it over and over again when I was in junior high and had just discovered it. It helped me through a lot of tough times. My favorite characters are Gilly and the aunts. Welcome! And yes, the book is great! It was the first Alice Hoffman book I'd read, and actually the best of the ones I've tried. There's a lot in the book that could not be put into the movie, so it's a good way to learn more about these characters! Enjoy!

ohh the book is totally better than the movie.. it's REALLY different though, as in like.. Sally's daughters were teenagers throughout a good part of it, and it dealt a lot with how they felt and if I'm remembering right, their characters were even switched in the movie lol.. there are sooo many things that they changed for the movie.

the book and the movie are actually really different. i do like the book a whole lot, but its the only book ive ever read where i actually thought the movie was better.

Alice Hoffman has a very distinctive writing style as I'm sure you're aware of by now. I was very sorry the Aunts weren't the same in the book as they were in the film. Aunts Jet and Frannie were the best part of the movie!!

As for Nicole Kidman, she's exquisite. Sandra Bullock's the best, too.
