SINGAPORE MALAY ORCHESTRA
We are now recruiting for new members for 2009/10. Players come from all
over Singapore in the course to experience and perform Malay music of
various genres. Orkestra Melayu Singapura (OMS) consists of various
wings namely, the youth wing, traditional ensemble and gamelan, all
under the artistic direction of specialists in their respective fields.
The youth wing, OMS (Youth) provides intensive training to members who
are inexperience in the understanding of Malay music literature. The
members receive expert tuition from current professional orchestra
players. The orchestra meet regularly for intensive
rehearsals/sectionals for annual concert and performances.
The OMS is under the direction of Amri Amin and Mohd Jais Minsawi.
