Aha, Whitby. Fishing boats. Wonderful chip shops. Sailing boats and harbour trips.

And Goths!

Isn't that just an old SGS flyer you've modified with different name, location, times, and entry cost?

You might well think that, I couldn't possibly comment! :-)

TBH it is actually all-new, just in the old style and using the same graphic. Lady Death's head is on the banner, so it seemed sensible to put the rest of her on the flyer. And it does have the advantage of simplicity, just saying what, when, where, who, and how much. It's all too easy to overdesign a flyer.

And unlike the old days, there'll be proper shiny versions of this one! :-)

Okay, so I will have to defer to your great knowledge of music, because I'm finding myself increasingly without anything new and decent to listen to. At this point even Pandora is no help, nor the "Other people who bought X also bought Y" suggestions on Amazon.

Can you recommend some good bands in the EBM, industrial, synthpop categories? My all-time fav is VNV Nation, obviously; recently I added a few individual songs by Mind.In.A.Box, Covenant, and Assemblage 23. I've given a try to others too, but I'm getting tired of the Germanic accents and poor/weirdly phrased lyrics written clearly by non-native English speakers prevalent in those genres.

HALP PLZ???

Hi!

Sorry, I somehow overlooked this reply when first posted.

VNV Nation and Covenant you already know about, I'd strongly reccomend Covenant's "Northern Light" album, and especially the track "We Stand Alone":

Also "We Make Ritual Noise":

I'd also suggest Cybercide, who are UK based and originally from Yorkshire, but unfortunately all the Youtube stuff is live and terrible quality.

Other bands to check out:

E-Nomine. Though you're back with Germanics there, their track "Mitternacht" is very, very good.

Apoptygma Berzerk are brilliant at their best - tracks worth trying include "Until The End Of The World", "Love Never Dies (Part 1)", "Eclipse", and "Starsign".

If you want it hard, heavy, and pounding, try Combichrist (especaially "Today I Awoke To The Rain Of Blood" and "This Shit Will Fuck You Up"), and Modulate, particularly "Bass Alert" and "Skullfuck".

Also worth listening to, "December" by Pride And Fall.

Hope that gives you something to be going with!

Let me know what you think of my suggestions.

Thanks! Covenant's "We Stand Alone" is one of my favorites, together with "Call The Ships To Port" and "Brave New World".

Apoptygma Berzerk, Combichrist, and Pride And Fall I know about, Pandora plays some of their songs when you enter VNV Nation as the source artist. I am very picky when it comes to lead singer voices, though - that's why I'm not too keen on those bands, and why I can only listen to a few Assemblage 23 songs. Some of them simply grate on my ears and take away all the joy that the music holds...

I'll look around for E-Nomine, if not on YouTube, then somewhere else.
