Defining the seasons

There are two basic definitions of the seasons and they are six weeks out of line with each other

I prefer the "common sense" (to me) definition of
Winter - Dec-Feb
Spring - Mar-May
Summer - Jun-Aug
Autumn - Sep-Nov.
