What is it about growing up on the right side (as apposed to the left side) of the Atlantic that makes one say, "Chyz-ler" instead of chys-sler?

Just because you have a stiff upper lip doesn't mean you can't slur with the best of us!

I've always said it "Chrys-ler." That's how I heard other people say it while growing up in NYC. Now I'm going to have to pay extra close attention to people when they say it so I can hear the variations on pronunciation. Incidentally, maybe I should look into linguistics as I tend to enjoy listening for dialectal differences. ;)
