Russian Adoption Thought #3

I have to say honestly, I am not sure why people are so focused on international adoption. Maybe it is not a bad idea that the Russian government is suspending adoptions to the US.

What about the children who are adopted out of disastrous circumstances, like the Romanian orphanages? It's not hard to imagine that some chance would be better than no chance at all.

I know that doesn't describe all situations, but I've got the impression that they are generally coming from a worse situation to a better, and that an American orphanage would be an improvement. I'm sorry she sent the child back instead of dealing with it through the American system -- I naively assumed that's how it would happen.
