i made it back from our first week in the field- just a bit dirty after all the dust and no shower for a week. i'd love to update more, but i want to actually do stuff today seeing as it's my only free day here since i couldn't change my flight... no barrier reef for me :(

Just a few degrees north of the tropic of Capricorn and it's definitely apparent by the weather. Quite comfortable- warm and a little humid. Went to the demolition derby out in Monroe... hilarity ensued. There's a figure 8 track, used for many types of events including (but not limited to) chains, school buses and boat races. First the chains: 3 cars chained in a line driver in the first, braker in the third. Usually the middle car is something so beat up all it can do is roll. ( Read more... )
