You know, as much as I utterly despise Volks for their marketing, elitism and all around stupidity, I still want to go to Tenshi no Sato. Erk. If there's one thing I absolutely loath, it's when I fall for a marketing scheme but unfortuantly, I've fallen hard. x_x;
Of course, part of it is the lack of alternatives. There is no place in the world where all types of BJD are welcome to come and play together, even Domuya is changed. I don't think they even sell other company's dolls any more. Dream of Doll and Cerberus Project and whatever don't have actual, honest to God places one can go to pick up their doll and play and take pictures and whatever.
This makes me very sad, because I don't buy Volks' (or anyone elses') crap that my Ichiiro is worth any less just because he's not omg!Volks. I would love to be able to take him someplace with me and buy him wigs and eyes and clothes right there, instead of always having to get it online.
I hate the insinuation that if I were to get a Volks doll, said-doll is mysteriously "better" than Ichii and any others that might come to live with me just because they're omg!Korean. Or worse, the idea that I've somehow bonded with them more just because I've done that Omakue Ceremony - which, by the way, is only something you can do if your doll happens to be a Volks doll.
There needs to be a place where all dolls are welcome to come and play together, not just mysterious elitist Volks dolls.
P.S. There also needs to be more published on other companies. I have two Haute Doll magazines, both of them have extensive articles on Volks, and one has a smaller article on CustomHouse. (Aimee's article drove me up the wall, oh how special and unique FCS is~ maybe then, but now AngelReigon's Only For You has proven that yes, other companies can do full choice dolls, and yes, you can do it over the internet without omg! being less special.)
Not that I'm bitter, or anything.
