Sarah and I got very similar emails when he fell out with us. He's just trying to make you feel bad which is something he's very good at. (and like yours, our emails didn't make much sense either! ;))

About 3 years ago I think. Very short version is he lost interest in us when he got a girlfriend. It totally ended between me and him when we had an argument about him wanting to kill himself and not caring if it hurt his girlfriend or best friend. He said I should have "respected it was his choice" and apparently I was wrong to take the side of the people who loved him.
