While that character does look very much like you, if you're in need of inspiration, hey..finding gamer look alikes is always a bonus for inspiration! Or friends proding, that works too.
I'm pondering going to Otakon and breaking the Big Ban of '04
Its been 6 years since the ban was set in place, so I think its safe its no biggie to break. Or at least re-write the bylaw indicating the ban only applies to entering the masquerade, and not the convention itself.
Hmmm changing the bylaws might be an acceptable workaround while attempting to upkeep the Great Ban of '04... I still feel rather guilty, though!
It's been so long since we've seen each other, it's so saddening that silly old D*C is sandwiched between the two first weeks of the term, and that I keep being stuck teaching M-W-F so I can never come!
Maybe one day you will venture out of Florida once again... I have a guest room now! (Well, two when I'll be all done with the renovations...)
The sad thing is I've gotten out of Florida several times as of late (and more so this year), but never in the area to see you!
This will be changed(!!!), though it may have to wait until after the wedding (which right now looks to be one massive travel adventure in and of itself).
I was about to say, you should come to D*C again :( That's so unfortunate that your schedule is like that =/ This is why I love my quarter school. We don't start till the end of September!
I'm heading up an expedition of Fancy Ladies to Wolf Trap Otakon weekend. You're invited. It will probably be more fun than an anime con. I'm guessing.
An expedition of Fancy ladies does sound like a lot of fun... but then I got bitten by the "wear a costume and look like an idiot" bug while struggling with piping a couch cushion, and since D*C is out of the question due to my always being assigned to teach on M-W-F, my options are slim to none.
On the other hand, I hate Baltimore in general and Otakon in particular.
I need to ponder this further.
Hopefully I will acquire a car some time this fall and I will be able to cross state lines to come visit you ; it's been so long and I miss the fun we had together back in Bethesda. Unfortunately the neighbourhood I have to cross to walk home from the metro is creepy at night, so by my avoiding that situation as much as possible I also restrict my day trip possibilities. (Thank goodness for all my friends with cars.)
I played the game, and don't remember the character's name. I did think she had an awesome costume. She's with the government that is hunting down your group of heroes, presumably to execute them publicly.
Ah, Otakon. My husband still wants to do a skit there this year. It hasn't been that drama-filled, at least from my perspective. I want to say that I participated in the masquerade there 3 times (but once was an exhibition). If you want to go see friends, I don't think the spirit of your ban will be impacted.
The spirit of my ban is what is important, since it's now become a running joke (Just like my ban on Italian restaurants after the World Cup fiasco... which I accidentally broke two weeks ago! I'm so ashamed!). lol
If you played the game and don't remember the character's name... that does seem to fit with the insipid description I got of her lower down. Ah, well, maybe I should look for another project (or maybe finish all the old ones I have lying around... naaaaaaah).
Good luck with the Otakon masquerade, I can't wait to see what you guys will do. But I'll be good and I won't ask. Instead I'll go check your LJ and... bingo! :3 Based on the source, I assume you plan to make us laugh!
Yes, flat is a good way to describe her. There's a FFXIII skit brewing that involves me sewing up the big villain for my husband to wear. I had to put my foot down. Way too much work for a very boring character! I just finished the game and can't even think of his name. I don't have an icon from XIII, so Basch will have to do.
Word seems to have gotten out that I will do anything silly and in questionable taste. But hey, if you can't put on a velour unitard and laugh at yourself, what is cosplay for? At least I get to be a girl again at Otakon. There may be another dramatic skit in the future, but so far I'm having fun being silly.
Then if I do go we have to try to find each other to say hello. :)
Cosplaying again would be fun, as what I've been doing for the last few years would be more aptly described as "the 60 meter dash towards plastic masquerade trophies". I haven't actually been in a hall costume simply talking to people and enjoying myself in the longest time...
Hmmm...as much as there is a high resemblance going on there, I wouldn't really advise it as the character...is pretty flat. She's a villain who's a bitch and does...nothing. In fact none of very few villains in that game actually do anything or have a personality. But on the bright side you could easily get away with it without playing the game as there really isn't anything to her at all. No story, not much personality, you never even get to fight her. Design is kinda nifty though
( ... )
Wow... what happened to Final Fantasy games since I stopped playing them? They used to have the most interesting and charismatic villains! I just went on youtube to check cut scenes and all her cut scenes fit in 9 minutes? o_o That's rather sad.
Saiunkoku looks like Fushigi Yuugi 2 to me... but maybe it's just because of the Tang Dynasty robes and the cute men with little bucket hats. (Ahhh.... bucket hats! I'm certain that's the technical term. Just like duck shoes.)
You were talked into a skit? Good luck! You'll have to tell me if they got their act together, I'm afraid I'd have flashbacks of the monster growing out of Yui's back if I ever were to compete again at that con. (As nifty as that prop was, no one wants to be in a room with so many eyes staring at you.)
If you're looking forward to it, then it will be fun! It's when you start dreading it that you know something is going to happen...

I'm probably going to end up with a cheap used car, but, hey, it goes with the broke academic theme... and I can buy a Ferrari sticker and slap it on!
