[OOC: Continued from HERESalene turned back to Dax, motioning for him to leave, hitting the lightswitch on the way out, the sight of Mouse in her bed with the nightlight on, it made her feel happier than she had in a long time. Salene walked to her bedroom, Dax behind her, and she didn't talk in the hallway, everyone seemed to be going to bed, she ( Read more... )

Cloe walked from her own room to Salene's. She knocked on the door frame and smiled at Salene, waiting for her to say if she could come in.

Salene was so wrapped up in her thoughts, she didn't notice anyone walking into the room. She was lost, thinking of all the things she wanted to always say to Ryan, everything she'd been thinking about before was being overshadowed by that, she could not stop thinking about Ryan. It was almost unnerving, but most of all, upsetting, because some of the things were so deep emotionally that it hurt to think of facing, though she knew she would. Did she still love Ryan? Did she still love Pride? Oh yes, she did, she loved Pride, but also, somewhere inside of her, she knew she had once loved Ryan as much as he had loved her. It was when a knock came on her door that she looked up, and the thoughts kind of drifted to the far corners of her mind, a smile coming forth, "Hello Cloe, how are you feeling? Any better?"

Cloe nodded, still silent. She walked in slowly. "You alright?" She said softly. She moved closer to Salene, wondering why Ryan wasn't there. Their happy family should have come together by now.

Salene smiled, good Cloe was talking, even if it was softly, it was something. She patted the bed next to her, "Yeah, I'm alright, can't sleep, want to chat?" It was nice to have so many people around, someone was bound to be awake all night, until she could fall into an exhausted sleep. The journey home had seemed so wonderful, she'd felt almost normal, but she knew it was the excitement of almost being home and the happiness at being surrounded by her Tribe that had decieved her into believing she was miraculously going to just be ok again.

Salene nodded, suggesting soaking the bread in the broth a bit and then putting it on a plate, on the floor though, didn't want to train the kitten to eat on the table. Salene hugged Cloe and watched her walk away, smiling, then turned to the book on her night table, something she'd been reading, and rereading, a lot, something she kind of enjoyed. Salene picked it up and tried to focus on the lettering, concentrating as best she could. It was frustrating, but it took her mind off of Ryan..for now.

Mouse had only fallen asleep for a short bit of time. She couldn't sleep. When she did she had images of a dark pit and Salene's face looking up at her. She slipped from her room, sneaking down the hallway to Salene's room. Seeing her occupied she climbed up onto the bed and under the covers next to her. It was good to have Salene back home.

Salene put her bookmark in and closed the book, "Hey Mouse, you ok?" She smiled and set the book down again, crawling lower into the bed, her head on the pillows, the reading was frustrating her anyway, and having Mouse next to her was distracting, she just wanted to cuddle up to her and sleep. Maybe having Mouse in bed with her would help her feel safe and comforted, and she'd be able to sleep again, that would be nice. "Did you have a bad dream?"

"You won't go away again, will you?" Mouse had to ask, getting comfortable, resting on the pillows. "I can't sleep if you do. And I don't want to tell you my dream because I'm afraid it will scare you." Afterall it was Salene who was in the pit...

Salene sighed, Mouse was slipping into sleep, would she remember all Salene had told her? It didn't matter much, the truth would be told soon enough and the whole Mall would know what was going on between her and Ryan. She just wished they could get it over with already and it could be done, but she had to be patient. She lay there, watching Mouse fall asleep, exhausted brain now running a million miles a minute, thinking again about her and Ryan and their situation, and she wondered if it ever really would get resolved, or if they would continue to dance around each other and the subject until someone exploded at the other over a nice bowl of stew. Ugh.

Ryan followed where he had seen Salene head with Dax and Mouse. He didn't know exactly what room she was in and didn't want to peer into every room in the Mall. You'd think by now they would have put doors on the rooms.

He wondered if he would really be able to sleep. He had killed a man. That wasn't something you just forgot. But he had needed to do it. It was something that had needed done. No-one had mentioned it. He hoped they never asked. But Bray, Lex, and May knew.

He passed a room and took a moment to look in. Salene was in bed, Mouse, under the covers next to her, seemed to be asleep. He knocked quietly on the wall to get her attention. "Uh, hi, Sal." He said shifting from foot to foot in an uncomfortable way.

Salene had laid there, thinking and thinking, her eyes closed, trying to fall asleep again. It was during this time that she realized what it was called "falling" because just as she would slip near sleep, she'd feel as if she was falling into the bed, and it would frighten her wide awake again. When a knock came at her door, she gave a slight jump and looked up. The lights in her room were still on, being in darkness no longer appealed to her, but it still made her vision kind of funny. It was when she saw Ryan standing there that she looked kind of confused, "Hey Ryan," she gave him a soft smile, still not sure why he was there. "What's up?"

"I was...Uhm..." He again shifted the weight from foot to foot. Not looking straight at her. "I was just wondering if my old room was open or if someone was living in it now?" He had almost said 'I was wondering where I should sleep tonight?' But decided that would be a very bad way of saying it.

He had questions he needed to ask her. Things he needed to tell her. But now wasn't the time. They had just gotten back, and they all needed a good night's rest. Especially Salene.

Salene watched Ryan walk away, and then she lost it. She carefully let go of Mouse, pressing a kiss to her forehead before rolling over. Salene hugged herself, wrapping her arms around herself, on her side, her back to Mouse, her knees pulled up, a position she'd perfected in the hell pit. She leaned her face into her pillow and sobbed, letting it all out, crying, trying to be as quiet as she could ( ... )
