Salene woke with a start, whatever dream she'd been having had ended by startling her, and her eyes flew open, her blood pounding in her ears. As soon as she'd scanned the area before her eyes, the cloth of her canopy over her bed, and turned her head to spy Ryan sleeping there, her dream was instantly forgotten, though her heart rate was still

Ryan yawned. He wasn't awake yet, the world had that dizzy far away kind of feel to it. Nothing to disturb him yet. If he had been in the woods, there'd be no lazying around in bed half awake. Too many things to be done. That made him think of his kids. Why hadn't he heard from them? It worried him. Had they decided to stay away and didn't know how to tell him? The disturbing thoughts were what woke him up...that and a light touch on his face. Salene. The disturbed frown was replaced by a small smile. He opened his eyes, turning his head, feeling her warm against his side. She was even more beautiful with her hair a bit this way and that from sleep. Her eyes glowing in the soft light. "How long have you been awake?" He asked quietly.

Salene smiled as he stirred and moved, it was like he could read her mind, as if simply thinking about wanting him to wake up could wake him sometimes, this was a comforting fact. Maybe that was how he always knew when she needed him most, how he always came to her rescue, her champion and protector, he just knew. She snuggled her head a bit against his shoulder, her eyebrows coming together in thought at his question, then softening, "Oh, not too long. Just long enough to watch you sleep a little," she informed him, reaching her arm across his chest to hug him a bit, her leg still thrown over his closest to her, her face pressed against his shoulder. "Did you sleep well?" she asked softly, closing her eyes and relaxing.

"Yes." He gave her a small hug, only now coming fully awake. "You?" She seemed to be getting stronger every day. Bray's returning to his normal self after his days spent as some Zoot clone had helped everyone. He supposed they'd never know what made him go that far. And personally he didn't want to know. What was important was that things seemed to be calming down at the Mall. The week had passed quickly and more or less calmly. With the exception of the return of Luke. He shook his head. No use dwelling. He was a MallRat too now it seemed, and though it would be difficult to accept, it looked like he'd have too. He focused on Salene's face, and smiled again.

"Mmm," Salene replied softly to his question, positive reinforcement without actually saying yes. She had been sleeping well, until whatever that dream had been had startled her awake, but it didn't matter now, she was over it and there was no point in sharing that, she just felt silly. Salene yawned again, a little moan escaping at the end of it, a comfortable moan. She sighed and smiled, "Let's stay in bed all day," she offered, "I'll let my work sit until tomorrow, we'll hole ourselves up in here and tell everyone to go away," she added, knowing full well neither of them could do that, she had a City to take care of, and he had the militia to train, not to mention the other various and sundry things they did during the day, though some were unimportant, most were necessary. The pending arrival, or word of such, of his kids was looming over them, kind of stressfully, and she knew he was worried about them, angsting over their decision, and why they had heard absolutely nothing from them as of yet. There was the concern that

Jack knocked twice on the Salene and Ryan's door. "Salene, you might want to come out here. KC collapsed in the Cafe. He's just sleeping, but I sent Patsy to get Patch."

Salene stood up when she heard a voice, Jack's voice, but it was good news mixed with bad. "Thank you, Jack, I'll be right there," she promised, looking at Ryan and raising her eyebrows in surprise. "Well, I guess it's off to the cafe, you coming?" Salene didn't even get a chance to wait for an answer before she heard a scream coming from downstairs. "Mouse," she said knowingly, glancing at Ryan before hurrying off. She forgot about KC, even though she saw him, people were around that could help him, and when she heard the word Technos!, she went down the stairs, taking them carefully. Technos? How could that be?
