Oh, and my parents are being really emotional in general which definitely does not make this ANY easier.  My mom and I have blown up at each other at least three times over the past week.  At least.  And I have to say, it doesn't make it any easier hearing about how my dad especially likes that school or especially HATES this school.  It just doesn ( Read more... )

you have some great schools to choose from my love, and while in some respects that makes your decision even harder, just go with your gut. i know it's hard to argue with your parents about deciding where to go because, i mean, they're paying for it and all, but if you have a hunch that you belong somewhere, and you feel you could be really happy there, the davids will understand. listen to yourself most of all.

maybe try not discussing college with the parents (or anyone for that matter) for a couple of days? but lemme know when you've decided. people will be proud of you no matter where you choose.

I know exactly how you feel. I'm going through the same things. And it's really annoying because I HAVE NO gut feelings, at all. I already went through a decision process like this when I applied to prep schools, and I was so excited to go to the school I chose because I had a gut feeling about it, but I ended up hating it and leaving. Which makes this college thing that much harder. In the end, you just have to make a decision, even if it's as random as a coin toss. Set comfort as your priority and it might make your decision a little easier. That's how I chose Barnard over NYU.

Alice, what exactly did you feel when you got that "gut feeling" about Andover--and how did you end up hating it? I remember you telling me about it; you seemed so unhappy with it.
