Anyone else disappointed?

I've been listening to Tori Amos for almost 12 years now, and I went to see her in concert for the first time last Saturday. It was at the Nokia Theatre in Grand Prairie, Texas. I have to say that I was disappointed. I still think she's talented and all, but I wanted her to play more music acapella on the piano. It was just a big lights show, ( Read more... )

I saw her at an arena like 5-6 years ago and it was good, but not great. Then I saw her at the brand new kimmel center, where the philly orchestra plays and it was absolutely out of this world. the acoustics were phenomenal and it was one of my all time favorite concerts. so it has a lot to do with the venue unfortunately. It might have been the only non-arena tour she did, but it was just her playing 2 electric pianos, 1 grand piano and 1 harpsichord.

i personally like when its just tori and the piano doing a capella. the first two times i saw tori it was like that and it was amazing. this time she had a band with her and i didnt enjoy it as much...it also was a much bigger venue and my seats weren't as great this time. the first two times i had 3rd and 4th row. this time they were much more mediocore. but i noticed when she did one a capella song on this last show without the band i loved it.

My first Tori show when I was fifteen was a huge disappointment, I had awful seats, and I was at that stage when I was too cool to wear my glasses. A few days ago, I went to the show in Boise, which was held in a small venue, but because of an unfortunate allergy to macadamia nuts I had to leave early. :( Disappointed, again (mostly because of the nuts)! I understand where you get that feeling of it being over the top, and seizure inducing, especially in the venue I was at, it could have been much more intimate. Because I wasn't feeling to well in the first place, the lights really agitated my condition. I don't want to give up yet though, and I still wish I could have seen the whole concert. Maybe someday I'll get to see a GOOD Tori concert AND not be sick. :o)

i was at that show and while it wasn't her best show it was interesting and I brought a first timer and she was absolutely enthralled. I've seen her 9 times now and it really for me depends on her song selection. I love her with just her but I've also seen amazing with the band. My favorite show I think will always be her in Austin last tour. I don't remember the name of the venue but it was outdoors and during the opening acts it was sprinking but when Tori came out the clouds parted and the stars came out. It was absolutely beautiful and the set was amazing. So intimate. After that its going to be hard to top but I love her so much. And I meet the best people at tori shows.
