A Beggar nor a Borrower Be

I hate this. I can picture his face right now. What he'll say to me. Stupid self righteous git. Still, it has to be done. I'd thought about it the past few days, tried to find another solution, but this seems the quickest and easiest path to take. Not that the path isn't likely to be littered by proverbial land mines and all, but since when did ( Read more... )

After Faith left, I sat at my desk, looking ahead of me, not really paying attention to anything. I just wanted her to get better. Was that too much to ask? Probably. Like the Powers would really do anything for me ever again. But this wasn't about me, it was about her and this ... just doesn't seem right.

My thoughts get jumbled and I look up when my door opens, but roll my eyes when I see it's just Spike. The Spike Wes thought was more important than Faith. That really pissed me off.

Narrowing my eyes, I look up at him.

I'll make it quick. You owe me. So start paying up.

Standing up, I walk over to him. I owe him? He owes me! "I'll make it quick. I don't owe you a thing. Get out."

"No. I don't think so, mate." I snap back, crossing my arms and glaring up at him. Damn those lifts he wears.

"Look at you. In your tailored suit. Italian shoes. Leather sofas and a view people would kill for. Seems to me you've got it pretty good, and for what? For hightailing it out of Sunnydale and leaving Buffy in the lurch? Some champion you were."

I hold my ground, there is no way I am leaving without getting what I came for, that or him throwing me out. Whichever comes first.

"If you think you can lord it over me like your other lackeys and employees, then you've got another thing coming. I have the bloody moral high road for once, anyway. Which is probably a first."

That makes me pause for a second and chuckle.

"Look, I came back because Tara said I was needed, that I could still help fight on the side of right. But is that your side anymore? What the hell were you thinking when you took all of this on?"

You know, when someone is asking you for something, wouldn't it be best if you didn't bring up the past, or just be an ass to the person? Yeah, like I'm giving him anything now. I cross my arms at him, standing there and shaking my head.

I didn't leave Buffy, I left to give her a better life and look where it ended up. With him. Shaking my head, I turn back around, walking to my desk and sitting down. I really don't need this, my mind is on other things. Or one person, Faith.

Look, I came back because Tara said I was needed, that I could still help fight on the side of right. But is that your side anymore? What the hell were you thinking when you took all of this on?"That's really none of your business, for right now anyway. I never said I needed your help, I haven't needed your help and I ( ... )

"That's really none of your business, for right now anyway. I never said I needed your help, I haven't needed your help and I don't want your help. So, why don't you and Tara, just get out of my firm and be on your merry way.""Why did we even bother coming back?" I wonder out loud, throwing my hands up in the air. Seems like everyone couldn't give a fucking toss, we fought on the good side and now we're yesterday's rubbish to be left on the heap? Got used up and spat out. Lesson for the day, stay dead. It's less bother ( ... )
