PS2 stuff

Premodded slimline PS2 came in the mail today :o Tested it with original US and JP PS2, PS1, DVD, and backup PS2, PS1, and DVD-R and everything seems to be working great. Does anyone know a good torrent site to get ISOs? I know some of the more popular torrent sites will typically get the popular JP releases. Besides those, I know of solops2.com ( Read more... )

Assuming you bought the premod off a website, which site did you get it from?

For torrents, I use hongfire.

If you know usenet, then alt.binaries.the-terminal
If you don't know what that means, don't ask me. It's gonna take me too long to explain.

And if you are competent at reading Japanese, look into Japanese P2Ps "Winny" and "Share".

Bought the premod from http://www.bayareamods.net/ on the recommendation of a friend. Ordered on a Friday and it shipped on Monday (and tracking number was sent) and arrived Thursday. It was quick and all seems well.

I know usenet but I don't use it very often. I'll look into those P2P programs though, thanks.

Yeah, Winny is an awesome JP P2P program and Hongfire is nice for JP games. ;3
dragonmaster_x knows where it is at...
You can also use IRC to download ISOs. Use sites like www.torrentspy.com and www.ircspy.com to search through xdcc bots.

I download my isos mostly from newsgroups and torrents yeah :o Usually the newsgroups have them but if they don't, most popular torrent search should have them anyway.

I'll still buy the games I'm really into like Bemani collection stuff but I'm too poor to buy the other stuff!

And after reading dragonmaster_x's LJ it made me want to play more JP games so I can learn more kanji ;(

Oh, I dunno how I missed it, but plenty of JP online games detect mod chips... remember that DNAS system?

FFXI doesn't detect a modchip once you installed the game and have it run off the HDD. Winning Eleven online detects a modchip and refuses to get online.
